Beginning Monday, Oct. 15, Safety Harbor
residents can recycle mixed paper products at the curb, but will no
longer be able to recycle glass.
"The City has modified its recycling
program to better meet residents' needs, while working to protect
our environment," Sherri Kennedy, recycling coordinator, said. "In
doing so, we will no longer be collecting brown, green or clear
glass. With no place in Pinellas County to dispose of glass, it is
not cost effective to continue collection of glass."
The Sanitation Division announced it has
located a market for paper and is providing citizens with the
opportunity to properly dispose of a wide range of paper
products.
Acceptable mixed paper products include
office and school paper, magazines and catalogues, junk mail (with
and without the clear window), shredded paper in closed paper bags
marked "shredded paper," soft cover books, phone books and boxes
from cereals, crackers, pasta, cake mixes, toothpaste, bar soaps
and other toiletries; also shoeboxes and gift boxes. Place the
recommended items in the green bin provided to all households for
pickup.
Currently these items are being collected
at the recycling drop site at 1200 Railroad Ave., Safety
Harbor.

Safety Harbor Recycling Coordinator, Sherri Kennedy, at
