The Tampa Museum of Art's signature gala,
The Pavilion, is scheduled for 6 p.m.-midnight Sat., Nov. 10 at the
Tampa Museum of Art. The theme of this year's gala, The Pavilion
XXII, is "Imagine…" offering a clever play-on-words about
the future of the much anticipated new Tampa Museum of Art. The
Pavilion event will offer cocktails, a seated dinner catered by The
Capital Grille, live entertainment by Complete Desire of Atlanta,
silent and live auctions and more.
The Pavilion XXII will celebrate being the
last gala held in the current facility, which opened its doors in
1979. Groundbreaking on the new Tampa Museum of Art will
begin in December and it is slated to open in April 2009. The
museum will relocate to an interim location near the Tampa
Convention Center in January.
Net proceeds from the annual event are
used to underwrite exhibitions and educational programs that serve
thousands of visitors and school groups throughout the year.
Programs include the VSA arts Festival, which showcases the talent
of young artists with varying disabilities, ArtSpace, a unique
program organized to provide at-risk youth from area shelters an
art-based experience, and Saturday Morning Storytelling and The Art
Spot, which is offered free of charge on Saturdays from 10 a.m.
– 2 p.m. Other key offerings include the Club Art and Jr.
Docent programs for teens, and free Family Day events.
