Breaking ground for ManorCare’s new facility are (l-r): Richard Whitmyer representing Cong. Gus Bilirakis’ office; William Wallis representing Rep. Peter Nehr’s office; Chris Bohr, honorary mayor of Palm Harbor; Carrie Lund, regional director of operations, HCR ManorCare; and, Turner Byrd, administrator, ManorCare
Palm Harbor.

ManorCare Palm Harbor held a groundbreaking ceremony in August for The Rehabilitation Center, a more than half-million dollar addition to the existing Transitional Care Unit. The new Center will include a 3,355 square foot rehabilitation gym and will accommodate state of the art rehabilitation equipment.

Increasingly, the place for people recovering from accidents or illnesses isn't the hospital. Advancing medical technology and changing insurance practices have created a need for an alternative to acute care and acute rehabilitation hospitals. A few days after treatment, most patients do not need operating rooms or acute level of care, however they still need high quality medical care and rehabilitation.

ManorCare's Transitional Care Unit (Rehabilitation Unit) combines complex medical care and aggressive physical rehabilitation in one setting. The clinical expertise of physicians, nurses and therapists works to prepare patients and families to manage care needs upon discharge.

ManorCare Palm Harbor is part of HCR Manor Care, a leading owner and operator of long-term care centers in the U.S.
