World Class Artist Takes Time For Children |

“You have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet a world-famous artist,” Safety Harbor Middle School art teacher Heather Rayius told her students. They were among the dozens of local children who were welcomed at Syd Entel Galleries to meet Alexandra Nechita, a 22-year-old artistic prodigy whose reputation is worldwide.
At right, Meredith Grimm, 5, of St. Petersburg, came with her grandparents, Gale and Chuck Grimm,who recently had been on a two-week Grand Princess cruise where Nechita was a guest artist. Chuck said Nechita told them she was confused as an eight-year-old when people wanted to buy her paintings.“Why don’t they just make their own?” she asked.
