Parents of first-time kindergarten students at
Safety Harbor
Elementary School are invited to a special
event each year on the
first day of school, the
“Boo Hoo Breakfast.” It is a sad morning for
some, a day of joy and relief for others, noted
Sharon Finkelstein,
outgoing president of the PTA and a four-year
veteran of the breakfasts.
At right,
Finkelstein reads a story to the parents who attended, some with
other, younger siblings of the new students.
The story was also read
in each kindergarten class, so parents would
know some of what their child experienced
on that first day.
Below, Jessica Goble of Safety Harbor dropped off her “first and
only” child, Gabi, 5. She already had volunteered for the SHES PTA,
before knowing
for certain that her daughter would be able to attend the school. She
was crying and said she couldn’t believe there were
parents who weren’t.
At right below, Tyler Spear of Safety Harbor brought her daughter Hanna, 5, to SHES for the first time.
Christie Hill, who is holding her daughter Callista, 4, earlier dropped off Jordan, 5, for his first day of kindergarten
